This is the second project that JonDeTech and Chinese OFILM are working on together, and the development agreement concerns a module to enable measurement of body temperature using the mobile phone. The module is based on JonDeTech’s calibrated sensor element that allows the measurement of skin temperature with the required accuracy. In the first stage, the module will be offered as a mobile accessory, and in the long term, the ambition is that it can be implemented directly into the mobile phone. The development work keeps a high pace, driven by the great interest that exists from the market players in the wake of the ongoing corona pandemic.
OFILM is a leading supplier of high-tech components, and modules found, among other things in smartphones, laptops, tablets, and other consumer electronics products in the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart homes.
In February, OFILM and JonDeTech received requests from several OEMs regarding measuring temperature with a mobile phone. This initiated a high-priority project based on JonDeTech’s solution for measuring body temperature. The temperature range for measurement with the application is between -20 and +80 degrees Celsius. The current sensor is calibrated to measure the temperature range of around 35-39 degrees with extra sensitivity, with a required accuracy of ± 0.3 degrees to be used for taking the fever on the forehead.
– It has always been a goal of ours to find our way into applications adapted for the mobile market. Hopefully, our temperature application can make a positive contribution to limiting and stopping the ongoing pandemic. This project shows the strength of both having a close relationship with one of the most important players in our ecosystem and having an organization that can rise to the occasion when needed, says Per Lindeberg, CEO JonDeTech.
The mobile accessory will use Bluetooth to connect to mobile phones and will use a downloadable application as a control. The goal is that the second generation will be integrated directly into the phone.
– The first inquiries on developing a module for measuring body temperature with the mobile phone came from our customers as late as in February. We immediately realized that JonDeTech’s sensor element would be perfect in such a product. The fact that we already can go public with our collaboration is a true testament to how well our organizations have found each other despite the distance and travel restrictions., says Stark Guan, CEO OFILM Bio-Identification Technology.
