In the spring of 2022, JonDeTech signed a strategically important agreement with a cooperation partner in Taiwan. The agreement created the conditions for participation in developing an IR sensor solution based on an application specific integrated circuit, a so-called ASIC. As a step in the continued development towards a finished product ready for implementation in consumer electronics, JonDeTech has received a smaller order consisting of the JIRS10 sensor element and a modified frame for adaptation to their new production equipment. The objective is to produce the first prototypes. As the order concerns a relatively small amount of sensors for development purposes, the order value is also accordingly.
The main application area of the integrated circuit will be remote temperature measurement and presence detection. The partner has a strong presence and a large existing customer base active in various high-volume consumer electronics market segments, so they will primarily use the IR sensor solution there.
– Although this order does not mean any significant monetary addition for the company in the short term, the strategic value of the deal as a whole should not be underestimated. The fact that our partner now needs additional units of JIRS10 and other equipment intended for production is very positive and indicates that the project is soon approaching the finish line. Of course, we still need to find out exactly what the way forward will look like, but this order is a step in the right direction, says Dean Tosic, CEO of JonDeTech.
